WATERTOWN, S.D.–Two months ago, the Watertown School Board voted to close Roosevelt Elementary at the end of the current school year.

On Monday night, School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen gave an update on what the grade configuration COULD look like this coming fall after Roosevelt is shuttered.

The plan is called the, “Arrow Early Childhood Plan”…..

Danielsen went on to explain why McKinley is the preferred building to hold pre-K and Kindergarten classes….

One question Danielsen addressed from the board was staffing, and what happens to teachers and staff at Roosevelt when it closes this spring….

Danielsen says “Arrow Early Childhood Plan” could be up for final approval by the school board at their March meeting.

In February, the board would need to approve updated school district boundaries which would determine which particular school students in grades one through four would attend in the fall.
