Cyrus throws complete game in Watertown’s win over Eden Prairie at CWS Classic

OMAHA, N.E. (GoWatertown.net) – Watertown Post 17 would split their games at the Creighton World Series Classic in Omaha on Thursday.

Watertown would fall to Dickinson in game one of the afternoon, 10-1. Braedon Zaug, Marcus Rabine, and Trevon Rawdon had Post 17’s three hits in the game. Rabine collected the lone RBI. Jackson Maag pitched three innings on the hill allowing 10 hits, seven-run, walking three, and striking out one. Kyle Karst pitched two innings in relief.

Game two would see Watertown blank Eden Prairie 2-0. Both of Watertown’s runs crossed the plate in the third inning. Ben Althoff, Drew Denzer, Zaug, and Rabine had hits for Watertown. Jerod Cyrus pitched the complete game allowing six hits, and giving out two free passes while fanning seven.

Watertown will now wait to see who they will face in pool play at the Creighton CWS Classic.

Watertown Junior Legion is also in action this weekend at Sioux Falls Tournament where they will begin play today against Hopkins, Minnesota.
