CVB: Jacks picked fifth, open season this weekend

BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – South Dakota State volleyball was picked to finish fifth in the Summit League volleyball preseason coaches poll released Wednesday by the conference office. SDSU’s Crystal Burk and Raegen Reilly were named players to watch.
The Jackrabbits collected 51 points in the preseason poll. SDSU was narrowly voted fifth, finishing only two points behind Oral Roberts’ fourth-place selection.

Denver is expected to win the regular season title, garnering 75 points and six first-place votes in the poll. The Pioneers were followed by South Dakota with 74 points and three first-place votes while Omaha (68 points, one first-place vote) rounds out the top three.

The Jacks were busy last weekend with an exhibition contest against Augustana, the annual Blue and Yellow scrimmage, and the annual Volleyball 101 event:

State will hit the road to the Huskie Invitational this weekend where they will play UIC, Northern Illinois, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Coach Georgalas says it will be a challenging weekend:
