Crop duster killed in North Dakota plane crash

NEW ROCKFORD, N.D.–A crop dusting pilot is dead after his airplane crashed into a sunflower field south of New Rockford in east-central North Dakota Tuesday.

According to the Highway Patrol, the pilot was a 63-year-old man from Jamestown. He died at the scene.

Eddy County Sheriff Paul Lies says the plane went down at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 281. The crash happened five miles south of New Rockford. Lies says the aircraft clipped a power line.

The FAA will investigate the crash.
