WATERTOWN, S.D.–A new beginning in Watertown’s local government Tuesday night.

Newly-elected Mayor Ried Holien, recently hired City Manager Amanda Mack (pictured) and council members all took the oath of office.

The voter-approved switch to a city manager-led form of government had Councilman Mike Danforth wondering what role Mack will play during council meetings.

Here’s what she said…

Mack comes to Watertown from Spencer, Iowa, where she served as city manager. Prior to that, she managed city government in the South Dakota cities of Canton and Worthing.

Councilman Glen Vilhauer was appointed deputy mayor at last night’s meeting, meaning he’ll run the show whenver Holien is absent.
