WATERTOWN, S.D.–This week on KWAT’s “What’s Up,” we’ve been discussing two proposed carbon sequestration pipelines that, if approved, would knife their way through the landscape of South Dakota’s countryside.

The Public Utilities Commission began hearings on the first pipeline project (Navigator) on Tuesday.

A second pipeline (Summit Carbon Solutions) will get a hearing in September.

Karla Lems is a State Representative from Canton, and owns land that would be on each of the proposed pipeline routes. She talked with KWAT News Director Mike Tanner about these projects. Hear the interview in its entirety by clicking below:

A decision on permitting the Navigator line is expected in early September.
