WATERTOWN, S.D.–South Dakota will see temperatures sink below zero this weekend as strong winds and arctic air drive wind chills into dangersously cold territory.

In southeast South Dakota, essentially south of a Huron to Brookings line, there are Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings posted, where a few inches of snow combined with 40 mile per hour northwest winds, will create extremely poor travel conditions.

In the northeast corner of the state, very little new snow is expected, but we are in a Wind Chill Warning….

Katherine King is a forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen. She says the very cold temperatures and wind chills carry into early next week…

Wind chill values in the Watertown area could drop to as cold as 45 below zero this weekend.
