Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says $10,000 worth of hay bales lost in fire

BROOKINGS, S.D.–Hay is a valuable commodity this summer in the midst of hot, dry weather conditions.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says $10,000 worth of hay bales were lost in a fire today.
The Brookings Fire Department was called to an address at the intersection of 210th Street and 474th Avenue northeast of Brookings where approximately 200 round bales in a pile were on fire.
The bales had been piles approximately one month earlier.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
