WATERTOWN, S.D.–A former deputy attorney in the Codington County State’s Attorney’s Office has announced she’d like to return to that office working as its lead prosecutor.

Alison Bakken announced on Facebook that she is running for Codington County State’s Attorney.

The job is now held by Becky Morlock-Reeves.

Bakken is a graduate of Watertown High School and the University of South Dakota School of Law.

After working as a public defender in Sioux Falls, she joined the Codington County State’s Attorney’s Office as a deputy attorney to be closer to family, and later took a position with the Turbak Law Office.

Bakken says, “strong leadership and safety are crucial to the continuing growth of (Watertown)”, and she looks forward to representing the constituents of Codington County.

The filing deadline to get on the ballot is March 26th.

Election Day is June 4th.
