Avian influenza confirmed in turkey flock on central Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn.–The Minnesota Board of Animal Heath is reporting that avian influenza was confirmed Wednesday in a commercial turkey flock of 140,000 birds in Meeker County.

Samples were confirmed positive by a USDA lab in Ames, Iowa. Officials say the site is quarantined, and the birds on the premises were depopulated to prevent the spread of the disease.

Poultry producers and backyard flock owners should contact their veterinarian immediately if they see any signs or symptoms of avian influenza in their flock.
