ST. PAUL, Minn.–Attacks on Minnesota police and first responders are on the rise.
Officers have reported at least 3,400 assaults since 2021, with a 10% increase last year.
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans says since the beginning of 2023 there have been 18 police officers and one paramedic shot in the state, and four of them died. Included in that total are two more incidents that happened in the last couple of weeks.
About 30% of all assaults on Minnesota police occurred during domestic disturbance responses.
