American Cornhole Tour announces October stop in Watertown!

July 12, 2022

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce that the American Cornhole Organization (ACO) is adding Watertown as a stop on its ACO Majors Season 18 tour. This is the only stop in South Dakota and will take place at the Codington County Extension Complex on October 6-8, 2022.

The American Cornhole Organization, the ACO, is the Official Governing Body for the sport of Cornhole since 2005. The ACO offers official cornhole rules, sanctioned products, tournament listings, and comprehensive information about cornhole events.

Frank Geers, Founder of the ACO, when asked about the choice of Watertown as one of the ACO’s high profile ‘Major’ tournaments for Season 18, commented: “We are excited to bring the nationwide ACO Season 18 tour to Watertown. It’s about time that the rumble coming out of South Dakota isn’t coming from Sturgis, but rather from the thunder of cornhole bags hittin’ holes and crushin’ souls in Watertown. Don’t be surprised if there is a touch of seismic activity where 29 meets 212 in October. We expect the competition to be as much fun as it is fierce.”

Katherine Danforth, Executive Director of the Watertown Convention & Visitors Bureau added, “The Watertown CVB is grateful the ACO selected Watertown to be the host city in South Dakota for its Cornhole tour. Getting on the map for sports like Cornhole will benefit the Watertown community tremendously and we cannot wait to see where this partnership takes us.”

The teams will begin to arrive in Watertown on Thursday with tournament play beginning on Friday, October 7 at 9:30 am. Play will continue into Saturday. For more information and to register for the tournament click here: https://americancornhole.com/

It is likely the American Cornhole Organization will return to Watertown again in 2023 and 2024.
