PIERRE, S.D.—Governor Kristi Noem took a different approach to today’s daily update on the coronavirus pandemic.

In past days, she has talked about the number of positive and negative cases, where they’re at, and has taken questions from reporters.

But not today.

The governor instead read a prepared statement, and did not field any questions immediately after.

Instead, she asked South Dakotans to hit the “pause button” as worries linger about this terrible virus….

Noem says it’s okay to be scared, but she says in the end, we’ll all win…

The governor wrapped up her comments by saying…

Right after the governor ended her remarks, the state’s COVID-19 page https://doh.sd.gov/news/coronavirus.aspx was updated to indicate there are 41 positive cases in South Dakota now. That’s 11 new cases since Tuesday. There were eight additional cases in Minnehaha County, and one new case each in Brown, Lincoln and Meade counties.
