WATERTOWN, S.D.–Downtown Watertown will take on a decidedly different look this fall when construction wraps up on a new $2.5 million park called Community Foundation Plaza.

A ceremonial groundbreaking on the project was held Monday, and now crews with Gray Construction will spend the spring and summer months building the park and putting together all of its features.

Amanda Mack is Watertown’s City Manager, and talked about the project with KWAT News…..

Downtown parks are not a unique idea. In fact, Mack says several South Dakota cities already have parks and green space in their downtown areas…

The park will be located in what was a parking lot just south of County Fair Foods along Kemp Avenue.
