BROOKINGS, S.D.–An Elkton woman avoided injury Tuesday night when the car she was driving collided with a train in that city.

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says 28 year-old Lilana Rueda was southbound on Cornell Avenue and did not see the train coming or hear its horn.

As the vehicle crossed the tracks, the train collided with the rear of the Nissan Murano.

The car sustained heavy rear end damage.

Rueda was cited for failing to yield, and driving without a valid license.
