Woman arrested following Watertown hit and run crash on Highway 212

WATERTOWN, S.D.—A Watertown woman was arrested in a hit and run accident Saturday night.

It happened at 9:45 at the intersection of Highway 212 and 19th Street.

An eastbound pickup driven by 57 year-old Desiree Frederick of Watertown ran a red light, and crashed into a car carrying an adult male and an adult female.

The pickup fled the scene eastbound. An eyewitness to the crash followed the pickup while at the same time calling 911.

Police caught up with Frederick and made the arrest. She’s charged with Second Offense DUI, Felony Hit and Run, Driving Without a Valid License, and Failing to Obey a Traffic Signal.

The two occupants of the car that was struck were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
