WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire Sunday afternoon, about eight miles north of Watertown.

When they got there, crews found an 80 acre wheat stubble field fully involved.

Crews extinguished the fire in a little over an hour and a half.

Fire Rescue was assisted by local farmers and their tillage equipment.

Red Flag Warnings are posted today for east central and southeast South Dakota indicating a high fire danger due to a combination of low humidity levels and winds that are expected to gust near 45 mph.
