WATERTOWN, S.D.—Watertown Fire Rescue was called out at about 4 p.m. Monday to a report of a natural gas leak.

It was at a home in the southeast part of the city. An exact address was not given in a news release.

It was an unoccupied house that had high natural gas readings coming from it.

Fire Rescue and Watertown police blocked off the street and cleared the immediate area around the home.

Fire Rescue then ventilated the home to prevent an explosion.

The exact cause of the leak remains under investigation.

Crews were on the scene for more than an hour.
