Western, central Minnesota clean up after strong storms

CHANHASSEN, Minn. – Parts of west-central and southern Minnesota are cleaning up after thunderstorms rolled across the state Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service reported 68-80 mile per hour wind gusts destroyed a shed, snapped power poles, and flipped pontoons in the New London area of Kandiyohi County.

A 75 mile per hour wind gust was recorded at Belgrade, and Brooten and Morris had sustained winds of 60 mph. A tree fell on a powerline in Pope County, and several trees were down in Wheaton.

Forecasters said 1.5-inch hail fell in Hoffman, and there are reports of 1-inch hail in Glenwood.
