WATERTOWN, S.D.—Winter weather is going to have a major impact on activities this weekend in central and eastern South Dakota.

A major winter storm will dump heavy amounts of snow that will be blown around by very strong winds later in the weekend.

Forecaster Mike Connolly says the leading edge of the storm makes its way into South Dakota overnight tonight….

That’s just the first wave of snow. There will be a break, with the heaviest snow coming Saturday night thru Sunday….

The snow will get deep, visibility will be reduced, and travel will become difficult if not impossible….

Connolly says the storm will finally exit the region on Monday, and then all the cleanup work can begin.
