WEBSTER, S.D.–A Webster police officer is credited with life-saving efforts during a call in last week’s blizzard.
On December 23rd, officer Dylan Collins rescued a semi driver who became partially submerged in freezing water after a call came in that a semi had rolled into a body of water just west of Webster on Highway 12 that morning.
Collins himself became partially submerged during the rescue attempt when he too fell through the ice and into the freezing water.
He was able to get himself back on top of the ice and help the semi driver to safety until ambulance crews arrived.
Both Collins and the semi driver were taken to Sanford Webster to be checkout out, and were released that morning.
