VERMILLION, S.D. (GoJacks.com & GoYotes.com) —South Dakota’s stifling defense led the Coyotes to a 65-42 victory over in-state rival South Dakota State on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday marked the Jackrabbits’ second-worst loss in Summit League play, behind USD’s 83-48 rout two seasons ago inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.

South Dakota had four players reach double-figures in the game. Fifth-year senior Liv Korngable led the way with 15 points, second-year freshman Kyah Watson dropped a career-best 14 points, sixth-year senior Hannah Sjerven tallied a double-double of 14 points and 13 boards, and fifth-year senior Chloe Lamb had 10 points.

Tori Nelson put up nine points, seven of which came in the second half, to pace SDSU. Paige Meyer grabbed four rebounds and gave out four assists, both team highs, to go with seven points. Paiton Burckhard and Myah Selland also chipped in seven points apiece.

South Dakota resumes action at 8 p.m. CST Thursday at Denver.  SDSU will go on the road to Omaha (Thursday) and Denver (Saturday).
