Watertown’s State of the City Address delivered  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Mayor Ried Holien delivered the annual State of the City Address to a group of city employees at the police department community room Monday.

The mayor began his remarks by talking about streets. He says Watertown’s Pavement Condition Index, which is essentially a report card on the condition of the streets, has gotten better. He says when compared to other cities nationally, Watertown is near the top of the being average. He says that’s not bad, considering the weather extremes of the Upper Midwest…

The mayor says Watertown’s tax revenues are booming. The First and Second Penny Sales tax collections are growing just over 12-percent year over year, and it’s happening in a bad economy nationally…..

Holien says 2022 was a year of getting things done…

The mayor shared the stage at the State of the City Adress with City Manager Amanda Mack. He says that was by design…

The mayor says Watertown’s quality of life will help address a worker shortage…

The mayor also praised the work of the police and fire departments, which he says make Watertown a very safe place to live.
