WATERTOWN, S.D.–A changing of the guard at tonight’s Watertown City Council meeting.

Mayor-elect Ried Holien will take the oath of office, along with councilmembers Mike Danforth, Colin Paulsen, Dan Schutte, Bruce Buhler, Glen Vilhauer and Randy Tupper.

Holien won the June 15th mayor’s race handily, defeating Sarah Caron 71-percent to 29-percent (3,010-1,237).

As he campaigned around the city, Holien sensed people were ready for change…

As for his first priorities as mayor…

Tonight’s meeting also marks the transition to a city manager-led form of local government in Watertown.

Amanda Mack was hired away from Spencer, Iowa to become Watertown’s first-ever city manager.
