WATERTOWN, S.D.–More space has been spoken for in the former Shopko Building in Watertown.

Nyberg’s Ace Hardware has announced they’ll open a new store in what’s now known as Crossings Plaza. It will be their sixth South Dakota store.

In a news release, Nyberg Ace Hardware owner Kevin Nyberg said, ‘We are excited about being part of the Watertown community. Watertown is a wonderful city with incredible growth and retail opportunity.”

Brian Brandriet of Brandriet Property purchased the former Shopko building in early 2020 and has since done extensive remodeling.

He says Nyberg Ace Hardware will be located on the west side of the building, and will occupy 23,500 square feet of space. Brandreit says they hope to be open by April 1st.

Crossings Plaza also includes Studio 212, which is space for concerts, parties and wedding receptions, and Sioux Valley Co-Op Federal Credit Union.

Brandriet says the addition of Nyberg Ace Hardware means more than 80-percent of the entire square footage of the building is now occupied.

Four smaller storefronts on the north side of the building remain available for lease.
