WATERTOWN, S.D.—It’ll be a quiet summer at Watertown’s Aquatic Center along Highway 212.

The Park and Rec Board voted Tuesday night to keep the facility closed due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic…

That’s Parks and Recreation Director Terry Kelly, who spoke with KWAT News Wednesday morning. He says one of the driving forces behind keeping it closed was the issue of staffing….

Kelly says the fact that other area cities are keeping their pools closed too was another issue….

Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and Pierre are just a few cities that have also decided to keep the “closed” sign up at their outdoor pools this summer.
