WATERTOWN, S.D.– A Sioux Falls man has been arrested by Watertown police on drug charges following a traffic stop.

Sergeant Trevor Barthel says police stopped 30 year-old Eric Virrueta in the 1800 block of 4th Avenue Southwest in Watertown.

They searched his vehicle and found 9 1/2 ounces of meth, evidence of meth distribution, and more than $3,000 cash.

Viruetta made threats to the officers and resisted arrest before he was eventually placed into custody.

He was being held in the Codington County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond or surety.

It’s not his first run-in with the law. He was already on parole for distribution of a controlled substance.
