Watertown teenager arrested on burglary, drug charges

WATERTOWN, S.D.–A Watertown teenager has been arrested on burglary and drug charges.

Police Detective Sergeant Trevor Barthel says police were called over the noon hour Monday to a home in the 300-block of Third Street Southeast, where the suspect had thrown a rock through a window to get inside.

The suspect stole a firearm and televisions from the home.

Less than 30 minutes later, police recieved a report of a suspect who’d gained entry into a separate residence in the 300-block of Fourth Street Southeast, and was still inside the home.

Police set up a perimeter and the suspect fled on foot. He was tracked down after a short pursuit and arrested.

He’s identified as 18 year-old Dylan Brown (pictured) of Watertown.

A search warrant was executed at Brown’s residnce in the 300-block of Third Street Southeast. The stolen firearm and televisions were found there, along with evidence of marijuana wax distribution.

Brown was arrested for Second Degree Burglary, Grand Theft, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Another person in Brown’s home, 19 year-old Lenny Ames of Watertown was also arrested on drug charges.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
