Watertown takes weekend series over Rapid City Post 22

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would take the weekend series against the current South Dakota Legion Champions Rapid City Post 22.

The purple and gold would take game one on Friday 10-7.  Dawson Schmidt would drop down two hits and two RBI’s in the game.  Jerod Cyrus would tally two hits and one RBI.  Andrew Chech would pitch five innings, throwing 100 pitches for five hits, seven runs, three earned, three strikeouts while issuing five walks.  

Watertown would make it a day one sweep with a 7-4 game two win on Friday.  Braxton Lacher would lead Post 17 with one hit and one RBI. Easton Thury would pitch five innings on the hill, tossing 95 pitches for two hits, four runs, one earned, walking five while fanning five.  

Rapid City would earn their only victory of the weekend with an 8-5 victory on Sunday. Zach Hirsch and Breadon Zaugh would each have two hits in the game.  Post 22 would put down 11 hits in the game.  Kale Stevenson would go five innings for 104 pitches, eight hits, five runs, four earned, four strikeouts, and issuing four walks. 

The weekend’s final game would go to the purple and gold with a 5-3 win.  Cyrus would send one over the fence for a three-run homer.  That would be followed next by Kale Stevenson with a solo shot.  Kade Russell would pitch the complete game throwing 97 pitches, five hits, three runs, issuing four walks, and fanning four. 

Watertown (7-6) remains home to face West Fargo Thursday, May 20th at 5 and 7 p.m.  Games will be broadcast on the Talk of Watertown 1480 KSDR with video at GoWatertown.net/Post17.
