Watertown takes 6th at Girls State Varsity Tournament

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The host team Watertown would take 6th place at the 2021 Girls State Varsity Hockey Tournament.

Day one would see Brookings blank Watertown 4-0. The Lakers would bounce back on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Huron. Watertown would fall to Sioux Center in the 5th/6th place game on Sunday, 6-5.

Jaclyn Lloyd would end the tournament with three goals and three assists. Janel Lloyd and Jayda Kranz would each tally two goals and two assists. Sophie Krueger and Jillian Busch would each add one goal in the tournament.

In net, Emma Foisel would stop 72 of 83 shots on goal for the tournament.

Watertown finishes the year with a record of 7-8-2.

The Lakers graduate Skylar Kuhlman, Taylor Espland, Jalyn Reihe and Sophie Krueger.
