Watertown splits games at home tri Wednesday

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would go 1-1 at their home tri on Wednesday.

Down 2-0 to Pierre in game one of the afternoon, Mason Morris would change the momentum of the home town team with just one swing:

The three-run homer would be the deciding factor as Watertown would down Pierre 3-2. Kale Stevenson lead Post 17 to victory on the mound as he would go six and a third innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one. Jerod Cyrus recorded the last two outs to earn the save.

Game two would not go the way of the purple and gold as they would fall to 2019 Legion World Series runner up Fargo Post 2, 13-5. Peyton Johnston would lead the bats for Watertown sending in 3 RBI’s. Easton Thury would pitch five innings, allowing eight hits, three runs while striking out four and walking one.

Watertown Post 17 (13-9) plays two more in a home tri today (Thursday). Sioux Falls East will play game one of the afternoon vs Watertown at 1 p.m. That game will be broadcast on New Country KS93. Game three of the day at 6 p.m. will feature Watertown vs rival Brookings.  That game will be broadcast on the Talk of Watertown 1480 KSDR. Coach Neale previews the matchups:
