Watertown sets plowing schedule for latest snowfall

WATERTOWN, S.D. (News Release) — Starting at 5 AM on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 the Watertown Street Division will be re-plowing & re-sanding highways & emergency snow routes followed by city streets. Contracted help will also be plowing the Lake Kampeska roadways, Willow Creek Drive & the south bypass.

Starting at 3 AM on Thursday, December 31st, 2020 we will be plowing & sanding the downtown business district followed by city Avenues.

Downtown Business Owners: Please assist the Watertown Street Division by cleaning off your sidewalks before 3 AM, December 31st, 2020.

Please assist the Watertown Street Department by not parking on the roadways during the time that roadway is scheduled to be plowed. Parking on streets, avenues, or snow routes during the days they are scheduled to be plowed will result in a $40 fine (fine doubles to $80 if not paid in 3 days). There is also a fine for blowing snow into the street from a driveway or sidewalk.

Officers will do same day ticketing of vehicles blocking the snow plows from clearing the City’s streets and avenues. If the obstructing vehicles remain on the street longer than 24 hours after being plowed around, it will be towed at the expense of the owner. The Watertown Street & Police Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents in removing cars to provide for effective snow removal on City streets.
