WATERTOWN, S.D.—South Dakota schoolchildren won’t be back in the classroom anytime soon.

Governor Kristi Noem has extended the statewide school closing another week—thru March 27th—in accordance with national guidelines in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

KWAT News Director Mike Tanner talked with Watertown School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen…

Danielsen was asked if the governor’s decision to shut down schools was the right call….

He says one concern is making sure school kids are getting fed during this long closure….

While K-12 schools remain closed in South Dakota thru at least March 27th, the state’s public universities and technical schools will transition to an online learning model starting next week.
