WATERTOWN, S.D.–With coronavirus numbers down sharply from their mid-November peak in South Dakota, school districts are beginning to phase out the online learning option from home, and getting all of their kids back in the classroom.

That includes Watertown, where the school board approved the so-called, “Return To Learn” plan at their meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen (pictured) spoke with KWAT News…..

And their are additional requirements for those who choose to continue learning at home…

He says most students who’ve been online learning will come back to school…

Fall enrollment in the Watertown School District was 3,850 students, and Danielsen says at no time did the number of “distance learners” exceed 10 percent…

Danielsen says teachers in the school district have not received their COVID vaccinations yet, but that should be happening soon.
