WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown Salvation Army fell just short of its $78,000 goal during the holiday red kettle bell ringing campaign.

Here’s what Captain Dennis Jolly (pictured with wife Kelly) told KWAT News…

The overall fundraising goal for the Salvation Army over the holidays was $244,000.

Jolly says they’re at 77-percent of reaching that goal, and the fundraising through mail-in donations will continue through the end of January.

He says demand for Salvation Army services has been high, driven in large part to the high cost of groceries…

Jolly says 83-cents of every dollar donated to the Watertown Salvation Army is used to support local programming.

He says only two of 26 Salvation Army offices in the states of South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska reached their fundraising goal over the holidays.
