BRANDON, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Zach Hirsch would have a four-hit, four-RBI day to lead Watertown Post 17 to a split at Brandon Valley on Wednesday.
Leading 2-0 going into the fifth inning of game one, Brandon would put down a four-spot to take the lead and never look back to win game one 4-2. Zach Hirsch would drop down two hits and both of the Watertown RBI’s. Kale Stevenson would pitch five and two-thirds on the hill for five hits, four runs, walking six, and striking out six on 106 pitches.
Watertown would survive a scare from Brandon Valley in game two. Leading seven 7-3 heading into the final frame, the Lynx would put up a three-spot but come up just short, allowing Watertown to salvage a split on the day 7-6. Several Watertown players would have a multiple hit night led by Hirsch with two hits and two RBI’s, Braxton Lacher would have one hit and three RBI’s, Cole Holden had two hits and one RBI and Breadon Zaug dropped down one hit and one RBI. Jerod Cyrus went six innings on the hill, allowing five hits, walking four while striking out eight on 102 pitches. Easton Thury would close the game on 21 pitches.
Watertown Post 17 (24-27) head to the Twin Cities for the Gopher Classic Friday through Sunday.
