Watertown Post 17 splits games on the road in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would fall short to Brookings but claim victory over Sioux Falls East Tuesday on the road at Sioux Falls.
Game one of the night would see Watertown fall 8-4 to Brookings. Dawson Schmidt and Kade Russell would be the bright spots for Post 17, each collecting two hits. Schmidt, Russell, Mason Evans, and Peyton Johnston would score one RBI each. On the hill, Zach Hirsch would take the loss as he surrendered four runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out five. Brookings would amass nine hits in the game compared to Post 17’s eight.
Watertown Post 17 would come away with a victory in game two of the night over Sioux Falls East 8-1. Dawson Schmidt, Mason Evans, and Braxton Lacher would collect two RBI’s each. Peyton Johnston would contribute one RBI. Post 17 would end the night with 13 hits in the game. Kale Stevenson was credited with the victory on the hill as he allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out 11. Jerod Cyrus threw one inning in relief.
Watertown Post 17 (5-5) travels to Mitchell on Thursday for a doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m.
