Watertown police say eight year-old bicyclist struck by vehicle

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown police say a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon sent a young child to the hospital.

Sergeant Scott Price says it happened just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Third Street Northwest and Fifth Avenue.

A Ford Explorer driven by a 75 year-old Watertown man was southbound on Third Street when he struck an eight year-old girl riding her bicycle westbound on Fifth Avenue.

The girl was taken by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital with serious injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released.
