WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Police Chief Tim Toomey issued a news release Thursday to dispel rumors of school violence in Watertown and other schools across the state and nation.

Toomey says the posts are showing up primarily through the social media platform Tik Tok, and they mention bomb threats and school shootings at every school in the country occuring today (Friday).

Toomey says there is no reason to believe these posts are credible in any way, and the purpose of the news release is to dispel any rumors or fears from the posts.

Toomey  says Watertown police and Watertown School District remain vigilant regarding safety and security at our schools.
