Watertown police arrest seven juveniles following assault at loud party

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown police say a house party attended by kids last weekend led to the arrests of seven people facing various charges.

Police Captain Steve Rehorst says officers were called to the 10-block of Sunrise Drive just after midnight Saturday morning on a report of screaming and yelling coming from a home.

When officers arrived, they found evidence of an underage party, and a person who’d been assaulted by multiple people attending the party.

The injured person was taken by ambulance to Prairie Lakes Hospital for medical treatment.

Rehorst says as a result of their investigation, police arrested a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, two 15-year-old boys, and two 14-year-old boys for aggravated assault.

Additionally, a 16-year-old boy was charged with theft of a motor vehicle for stealing the assault victim’s vehicle.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and additional charges are pending.

Because they’re juveniles, the names of those arrested will not be released.
