Watertown officials hold press briefing on coronavirus  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.—Codington County has not reported any cases of COVID-19 yet, nor has any county in the far northeast corner of the state.

With that in mind, Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron says they’re trying to keep functions in the city as normal as possible, with some adjustments being made to align with CDC guidelines on limiting crowd sizes and using good personal hygiene.

The mayor spoke at a press briefing Thursday at the Watertown Police Department….

While some private businesses in Watertown have temporarily closed because of the pandemic, all city buildings in Watertown remain open, with the exception of the public library.

Some people are surprised the Prairie Lakes Wellness Center has kept its doors open. The mayor addressed that topic….

Also speaking at Thursday’s press briefing was Shannon Britt, an infection control nurse at Prairie Lakes Hospital…

Watertown Police Department Public Information Officer Nic Ahmann says the police department is also being proactive in trying to limit contact between its officers and members of the public in order to keep them healthy.
