WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Board of Directors at Watertown Municipal Utilities approved utility rates for 2022 at their meeting last week.

Director of Administration Adam Karst says there will be no changes in electric or natural gas rates for next year.

Water rates will increase five-percent, meaning the average customer who uses about 6,000 gallons of water a month will be paying about $1.87 a month more.

Karst says they’re using cash reserves to hold down natural gas prices.

The 2022 rates take effect with the January utility readings, and will be reflected on February billing.
