WATERTOWN, S.D.–A Watertown man was arrested on a weapons charge recently.

Police were called to the 200-block of East Kemp Avenue on a report of a possible gunshot.

When they got there, they determined 25 year-old Ejazul Haque discharged a shotgun round through the wall of his apartment and into an adjacent apartment.

One occupant of the adjacent apartment was struck by the round, and sustained minor injuries.

A police department news release says a bookshelf was against the wall that, “saved the occupant’s life.”

Haque was arrested on charges of Simple Assault and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

He was booked into the Codington County Jail.
