WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council has authorized Mayor Sarah Caron to sign a contract with a Sioux Falls firm that will study the removal of asbestos in the Wells Fargo Bank building downtown, which will become the new City Hall.

The mayor says GeoTek Engineering and Testing Services will do the work, and get paid an hourly rate.

The total bill is not expected to be much over $17,000, and the mayor says it could be much less than that, depending on what they find…

Councilman Glen Vilhauer asked the mayor for an update on the timeline of renovating the new City Hall….

The city bought the bank building for $1.3 million.

Renovating it could cost another $2 million or more.
