WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Fire Rescue crews responded to a gas line fire at Burger King in Watertown just before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Burger King staff had used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and had exited the building prior to fire resues’s arrival. Staff stated that a fire appeared while doing routine cleaning of the gas line behind the deep fryers  Once Watertown Fire Rescue determined the scene was safe, crews entered and shut the power and gas off to the fryers.

Due to COVID restrictions, there were no customers inside the restaurant. The scene was turned back over to Burger King management who stated they will be closed for a brief period to fix the gas line and clean the building.
