WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was called out Saturday afternoon to a house fire northeast of the city.

The fire at 45926 169th Street was reported just before 1:30. Crews arrived to find fire in the entryway of the home. There was one person in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to escape safely. Fire crews dumped just short of 400 gallons of water on the fire, and were on the scene for just over an hour.

A second house fire kept Watertown Fire Rescue busy on Sunday afternoon. That fire, at 206 9th Street Southwest, involved a fire at a home in the McKinley Trailer Court. The home was fully involved in fire when crews arrived. Three pets died in that blaze, but no other injuries were reported.
