WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a large structure fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire call came in just before 2 p.m. at 1312 13th Avenue Southeast.

Fire crews arrived to heavy black smoke coming from a commercial shop that contained four businesses.

The fire started in one business and then burned into the attic.

The fire was contained to the back half of the building and did not get into the front two businesses, but the back two businesses had heavy fire damage.

The building is still standing, but according to Watertown Fire Rescue, “a good portion of it is a complete loss.”

There were no employees in the businesses at the time of the fire, and no injuries.

Watertown police and the Highway Patrol assisted on the call.
