WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was called out around 1 p.m. Wednesday to multiple ditch fires in the area of 448th Avenue near 166th Street, northwest of Watertown.

They sent two brush trucks out, and when they got there they found multiple spot fires that were burning.

Bystanders had extinguished some of the fires prior to their arrival.

Fire Rescue used about 300 gallons of water to extinguish the fires, and were on scene for about 40 minutes.

The fire appears to have started from a tractor pulling a plow that was throwing sparks into the ditch.
