WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched early this (Thursday) morning, just after midnight, to a report of a duplex fire at 209 Third Street Southeast.

When they got there, they found fire showing out of the back of the structure.

The fire was quickly knocked down. Crews then spent a good portion of the night checking for fire extension to other parts of the duplex.

One of the units in the duplex had heavy smoke and fire damage. Another had smoke damage.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

And just after 8:30 last night, Fire Rescue was sent to a report of a semi on fire on the South Highway 81 roundabout.

When they got there, the semi driver had already extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher he had in the cab of the truck.

The fire was in the brakes and a tire area of the truck. Fire Rescue used another 200 gallons of water to cool the area, and were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
