WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a cold weather related call on Sunday.

Just after 3 p.m. they were sent to 500 16th Avenue Northeast on a report of a sprinkler pipe that had broken and caused a ceiling to collapse.

When crews got there, they found the pipe in the attic had froze, and caused the sprinkler system to activate.

The flowing water made its way from a bedroom into a hallway and a few adjacent rooms.

Fire crews were able to shut down the sprinkler system to stop the flow of water, and were on the scene for about an hour.
